The 42nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the ADB will be held at the Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) from Saturday to Tuesday, 2-5 May 2009. The opening session will take place in the morning of Monday, 4 May. Business sessions will take place in the afternoon, and the whole day of Tuesday, 5 May. Seminars and member country presentations will be held from 2 to 5 May. The Meeting will close at about 5:00 pm, Tuesday, 5 May.
Annual meetings are statutory occasions for Governors of ADB members to provide guidance on ADB administrative, financial, and operational directions and are held in a member country in late April or early May. This year, Indonesia will host the event, its second time in over 30 years. The ADB Annual Meeting according to Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, will be the most important international economic and development gathering in Indonesia in 2009. This meeting will afford member governments to interact with ADB staff and the more than 3,000 people from across the globe including finance and economic planning ministers, senior government officials, representatives of the multilateral development bank community, investment bankers, representatives of non-government organizations, and members of the media that will attend.
